Windsor Garden Design was originally formed in 1997 by George and Diane Balthaser at their original location on Windsor Street in Reading’s Historic district. From 1994 through 1999, George studied extensively at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, where he remains actively involved.
It was also during this time that he studied at various arboretums and botanical gardens throughout the Philadelphia and New York regions. In the summer of 1998, he spent an extended period of time studying design under landscape architect and former University of Kansas professor Mike Lin, in Manhattan, Kansas.
In 2000, Windsor Garden Design was incorporated and relocated to Exeter Township to accommodate growth. George’s curiosity and passion for different plants continues to take him to botanical gardens and universities throughout North America, Europe and Northern Africa.
Even now, he remains an avid plant enthusiast as well as a home gardener. Most of the year he can be found working in his own garden landscape and trialing new plants in hopes of using them for future projects.
